Helping Families During the Winter Cold: 150 Youngsters Receive Winter Clothing Through ‘Warm the Children’ Program
The freezing temperatures of wintertime often force families in Western Franklin County to make difficult choices. For example, will a family choose to heat their home or replace the winter coat that their child has outgrown? By participating in the Warm the Children Program this winter, Mary Lyon Foundation helped provide winter gear to our children—and ultimately assist their families in managing the extra costs associated with cold weather.
Administered by local newspapers and service organizations across the country, Warm the Children helps youths gain access to much-needed winter clothing and footwear. The Greenfield Recorder is our area sponsor, raising and distributing funds in Franklin County and the North Quabbin region.
As a direct result of Mary Lyon Foundation’s support of the local program this year, 150 children in our community received $80 Target gift cards to purchase new, warm winter clothing. We hope that this support offered relief to our families in need.
With the continued support of our community partners, the Foundation can fulfill our vision that all students come to school ready to learn, succeed, and thrive. To help us continue our mission to serve the community, visit marylyonfoundation.org.
