Partnership Expands Healthcare Access in Western Franklin County with New Mobile Health Unit
Shelburne Falls, MA, October 20, 2025 – The Community Health Center of Franklin County (CHCFC), in partnership with the Mohawk Trail Regional School District (MTRSD) and the Mary Lyon Foundation (MLF), is proud to announce the launch of a new Mobile Health Unit at Mohawk Trail Regional School, beginning Monday, October 27, 2025.
Designed to expand access to care for families across Western Franklin County, the Mobile Health Unit will visit the Mohawk Trail campus one week each month, offering a range of primary and preventive medical services for Community Health Center patients of all ages. Interested community members can sign up here to become a CHCFC patient and schedule an appointment with the mobile unit.
This collaborative initiative reflects a shared vision among MLF, CHCFC, and MTRSD to make high-quality healthcare more accessible for rural communities. The fully equipped, self-contained mobile unit will be stationed in the south parking lot of Mohawk Trail Regional School, with clear signage guiding patients to designated parking areas. (Please note: access to the high school building is not required or permitted.)
CHCFC’s proposed schedule for their first week is as follows:
- Monday, October 27 – On-Site Enrollment & Navigator Services: CHCFC will provide on-site support to assist community members with health coverage enrollment and navigation services from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Wednesday, October 29 – COVID-19 & Flu Vaccine Clinic: We will host a regional vaccine clinic offering COVID-19 and flu vaccinations. 9 a.m.-2 p.m. For this clinic, participants are not required to be patients of CHCFC but must register here.
