Caring for our Community
West County People Supporting People
Lack of access to medical, dental, psychological, and social services for our community is a perennial issue in the district. On Friday, May 20, 2022, the Mary Lyon Foundation, Franklin Regional Council of Governments, and the Franklin County Resource Network partnered with fifty-four health and social service providers. This conversation is the first step in strengthening connections between our constituencies and the organizations that serve them, addressing our community’s needs in all stages of life and circumstances, and developing long-term solutions to addressing these needs.
We are fortunate to live in a compassionate, caring, close-knit community where many individuals and organizations support a variety of needs year after year. We hope that this forum will expand our program and service delivery so that we are better able to help those in our community who are struggling to provide for their families. We thank all who attended for their care, attention, and interest in supporting this incredible community. A New AmeriCorps Team Member Will Joining Our Mission!
The Mary Lyon Foundation is thrilled to announce that we will be partnering with AmeriCorps, a premier civic engagement organization, by hosting an AmeriCorps staff person, beginning in August 2022 through June 2023.
For decades, the AmeriCorps has made community service an essential aspect of the American experience. Throughout our nation’s most trying times, they have come together to help those in need. We’re proud to have an AmeriCorps member joining in support of our mission to improve the lives of West County students and families by helping to ensure that every local child has the means to learn, succeed and thrive.
The Foundation is excited to connect local students with professionals who can help with career-readiness initiatives and leadership opportunities. Being part of the AmeriCorps network will help the Foundation build the next generation of inspired leaders who will gain experience in a variety of educational settings and through community action.
We’re thrilled to welcome an AmeriCorps member who will contribute to local youth development and participate in our supportive learning community, all while receiving training and coaching that will enable their own critical evolvement personally and professionally.
