Union 38 & Mohawk Trail Family Fund

Investing in Students. Strengthening Communities.

Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, succeed, and thrive.

But for some families, an unexpected expense or financial challenge can put everyday opportunities out of reach. A field trip. Summer camp. School supplies. Transportation. Before-school care. Sometimes, the things that help a student feel included, prepared, and ready to learn are the very things a family may struggle to afford.

The Union 38 & Mohawk Trail Family Fund was created to help close those gaps.

This permanent endowment provides lasting support for children, students, and families throughout the Union 38 and Mohawk Trail Regional School Districts. By helping meet needs today while building a sustainable source of funding for tomorrow, the Fund is an investment in the future of our entire community.

Access to Experiences That Matter

Sometimes, making a difference is as simple as making sure a child gets to participate.

In summer 2026, support from the Family Fund helped six local students attend River Valley Day Camp, up from four students the previous summer.

For their families, that support helped ease the cost of camp. For the children, it meant something much bigger. They could explore new places, take part in field trips, build friendships, learn beyond the classroom, and participate alongside their peers.

“For the children, it meant something beautifully straightforward: they got to go to camp.”

Moments like these are at the heart of the Family Fund. When students have access to the resources and experiences they need, they have greater opportunities to participate, build confidence, and succeed.

How the

Family Fund

Helps

Annual distributions from the Fund help local students and families access resources that support learning, stability, and opportunity, including:

  • Food, clothing, and housing costs
  • School supplies and educational support
  • Preschool and before- and after-school care
  • Field trips and enrichment opportunities
  • Athletics, arts, and extracurricular activities
  • Transportation and driver training
  • Vision and dental care
  • Scholarships
  • Access to nutritious food
  • Pre-K literacy bundles

These needs may look different for every student and every family. What they have in common is their ability to affect whether a child can arrive at school ready to learn and participate fully in the opportunities around them.

Creating Possibilities for Generations to Come

The Union 38 & Mohawk Trail Family Fund is an endowed fund, designed to support local children and families both today and well into the future.

A portion of the Fund is used to meet needs now, while the rest remains invested so it can grow and continue providing support for years to come. Each gift helps families and students today while also strengthening a lasting source of support for future generations.

That support can take many forms, whether it means helping a student attend camp, providing educational materials, supporting a family facing an unexpected expense, or opening the door to an opportunity that otherwise might be out of reach.

When we invest in local children and families, we strengthen the future of our region.
