Letter from the Chief Executive Officer: Fall 2026

Over the summer and in our fall newsletter, we focus on connectivity and how it is essential to us as humans.  Our relationships, or lack thereof, affect our well-being, either positively or negatively.  The start of a new school year brings greater connectivity among students, whose need for strong emotional friendships is paramount.  It is our human connection with one another that leads us to find hope, strength, and happiness in our lives.

This month, our 4th annual Community Resource Fair, held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 3:00 to 6:00, is a wonderful opportunity to strengthen bonds. Whether making new connections or renewing old ones, this event helps everyone feel part of a caring community.  The West County Resource Fair is free and brings together more than 30 agencies to educate and support everyone in the community. Your presence helps strengthen our community bonds and reminds us all of the importance of connection, including delicious food from Stone Soup Cafe, free books and activities for children, live music, student athletic events, and vaccines for those who wish to receive them.  It is an afternoon that feeds the soul and our bellies!

As we continue to navigate federal and state funding cuts, our strong connections help us stay resilient during these challenging times.  The support and care of one another are essential to easing our worries and hoping for better days ahead.

The Mary Lyon Foundation will not let the lack of funding get us down.  We continue to persevere through these uncharted waters and support our partner agencies where we can, ensuring that the good work in Franklin County continues with very little disruption.  Our work is possible because of your ongoing generosity.  Thank you for opening your hearts and wallets to our mission, and may you keep the Mary Lyon Foundation in mind as you prepare for year-end giving.  Together, we can make a difference in the lives of so many.
